Let me tell you a story today.
This story is based on 0% alcohol.
I went to Lazar's (a friends) birthday party today (20 April) and had lots of fun. Elaine, one of his friends and her boyfriend left early to go to another party. At just before 12(0)am we decided to join Elaine at the other party in the "Spui" in Amsterdam. There was a dj and some performers. The performers didn't really make great music but they were entertainers and entertained we were. I'm not much of a dancer and I never actually dance at parties, I just enjoy the music. But Elaine invited me to dance. Not exactly, but she encouraged me to do so. For the first time in my life i tried to dance to the music in a public place. I mean i have tried before, but never was I focuses as much on dancing instead of leaving the dance floors asap as this time and for the first time in my life I actually enjoyed doing so! I was focusing to get as much movement as possible while still being in my own style, in the style of the music, and not too awkward moving. Everyone around me seemed to notice, and I saw some people whispering things (i think they were about me). I tried to pay little attention to it and thought of it as positive feedback (even though i didn't know what they were saying). Some of the music was good, some of the music was great, and some of the music was garbage, but i danced to every one of them. Here comes the surprising part. Not long after, i got some attention of a girl. She started dancing close to me, and asked if I had a lighter. I had no idea what she was saying over the loud music at first, but she lifted her cig in the air and i understood. I don't smoke so, I don't have a lighter, is what I shouted. She left to find a lighter, but came back dancing close to me soon after. She started a conversation with me, no idea how it started anymore but we had a little conversation, i got to know she is a Francoise and came here since she works with the dj's, it was a nice little chat but the music was still super loud so making conversation was hard and I just kept dancing. Soon after my friends came to me, and told me, she's totally into me, that she's super hot, and that i should play with her hips. I had no idea, and had another look at her. She was pretty. This is my first time dancing though and I have never ever danced with a girl before. Swaying her hips seemed scary. I didn't dare it. I got the message though, and i picked up the dance with her again. We had some more conversation, and all the time i was looking at her hips. They didn't lie, but I didn't know how to approach her in such a way that we would dance in timid like that. Besides I think I would have filled really uncomfortable doing so. Instead I told her this is my first time I ever really danced. If she expected a move out of me and was disappointing i didn't act on her, I think she must have understood why I didn't after I told her this. She said I should come to parties more often, and she told me they would have a party on queens day again. I should go find where they'll stage at sotufestival dot com. I will. Obviously i have to meet this girl again (even though smoking turns me off).
TL;DR Met a girl, got a big confidence boost, it was a real nice experience.
PS: Her name reminds me of the name Irelia. I dont know how to spell hers, but its sounds like O-really-ya (Aurelia?)
